I started playing the viola in 4th grade. When it came time to pick instruments at my elementary school, I wanted to play the violin (as did everyone else). We already had a viola at our home because my older brother had attempted it. My parents told me that I could play the viola or nothing, so the viola it was! Over 30 years later, I still enjoy playing the viola…especially with my friends in the quartet!
I went to MidAmerica Nazarene University, and graduated in 1997 with degrees in Music Education as well as Church Music. I also received my MBA from MNU in 2016. I taught in the Shawnee Mission school district for four years before I moved out of state. I am now back in the Kansas City area, where I’ve been working at Garmin International since 2006.
I am blessed to have a wonderful, loving husband who always keeps me laughing, and I am thankful that I can continue my love of music through playing in Forte.
